Glass louvres, explained. Five questions owners ask

A practical starting point for choosing Paraflow with a clear understanding of its tested performance.

Rain, noise, air-conditioning, operation and the information needed to start an enquiry.

1. Can Paraflow keep wind-driven rain out?

The supplied Azuma specimen passed water-penetration testing at 600 Pa, with no leakage recorded. This result applies to that specimen. It does not mean an open louvre will keep rain out or that every size and installation has the same rating.

2. Will it make my room quieter?

The supplied CSIRO specimen achieved Rw 30, with the louvres closed. It used 6.5 mm ComfortHush glass on both faces. Rw is a laboratory sound-insulation rating, not a guaranteed reduction in the noise you hear inside a completed room.

3. Is it airtight enough for an air-conditioned room?

This needs a project-specific review. The supplied Azuma report records air-infiltration results that did not meet its stated low/high classifications. Water resistance and airtightness are separate properties; one successful result does not establish the other.

4. Can the louvres be automated?

Doric’s product range includes manual and motorised operation. Ask our team to confirm the suitable controls, electrical provisions, availability and scope for your project before ordering.

5. What should I send for an enquiry?

Please provide your name and contact details, project location, drawings or opening dimensions, approximate quantities, intended use and required timing. If you have an architect, include any specified glass, wind, water or acoustic requirements.
